Does anyone knows why the 3 Network is such a nightmare whilst trying to keep a steady connection?
Does anyone knows how the hell can they be charging this amount of money for such a disgusting connection?
Is this happening only here, in London?
is that because perhaps everyone is with the Iphone all the time?
Or might be that they have not got the appropriate network setup?
Are they the Muppets of communications? 3 I mean...3...
Is is that the MI5 or 6, or even 7, is interfering in my connection, if is that the case, what do they expect to find out of me? am I so important?
Why this thing keeps kicking me out and releasing my IP, what is happening with the link? Because the signal is quite strong where I live, and it is not a thing of location, I've tried it in many different points all around this huge city..and still the same...
Do they really expect from me to pay the bill at the end of the first "free" month?
Is it because the offer I got?

Does anyone know any of these questions' answer, should please take 2 minutes to reply to this post, and hel me!!!

Linux Vs Windows

Most of the internet users in this days are still using Windows operative systems because they do believe that is easy to use, but there are a few points to keep in mind before choosing which operative system one could use to, in example, publish in the web, nowadays, most of the users they are also publishers, in one way or another, as they use social networks on a day to day basis.

One of the mains for making me change into Ubuntu Linux Operative System was that the software available is so extended and useful, plus it is free of charge, that definitely made me opt for this at the time of "starting" publishing in the net, (before I had already publish, but it became more a nightmare than a real work).

There are many more advantages in the software packages offered.

No hang outs,
This OS seems to be pretty cool handling communication issues, and it does not freeze whilst browsing webpages.

Total security is guaranteed.

I believe there are so many more points to add to this post that I could be here writing for ages, anyway, it would be worth to have a look to the links offered here, for UBUNTU, so well renamed "Linux for the human beings" is here beating hard to all those companies that are just greedy.

Just keep in mind : "if you are clever enough to boot up a computer using windows, definitely you will be clever enough to use UBUNTU LINUX, now get out of the crowd, and start enjoying the internet revolution"

Adobe Flash Pluggin for 64 Bits Architecture failure

I am so sorry for the developers of Adobe Software Inc, had not release a proper plugin for 64 bits architectures.

It seems quite incredible to find out that Adobe Flash player for Firefox 3.5.9 has not been released yet...I got my first 64bits processor machine a few months ago, whilst I started working for a new website developing business called REDIBERA.COM, and it was a bit late, compared to the dates of the first generations of these type of processors...

I was expecting to get an update for this software, and I thought this could be a problem of Ubuntu Linux Operative System, but it wasn't, as I also found the same problem whilst using Windows 7 and the new Internet Explorer 8, also with 64bits technology.

I tried to find through Adobe's site some solution, but instead, they keep offering the visitors to find out some kind of software that they haven't developed yet..

Now..Would anybody tell me ...When are they going to release a proper flash plugin for 64 bits technology browsers? if anyone has some kind of solution for this, I would be grateful receiving this information,

To upgrade from Ubuntu 9.10 on a desktop system, press Alt+F2 and type in "update-manager -d" (without the quotes) into the command box. Update Manager should open up and tell you: New distribution release '10.04' is available. Click Upgrade and follow the on-screen instructions.

To upgrade from Ubuntu 9.10 on a server system: install the update-manager-core package if it is not already installed; edit /etc/update-manager/release-upgrades and set Prompt=normal; launch the upgrade tool with the command sudo do-release-upgrade -d; and follow the on-screen instructions.

To upgrade from Ubuntu 8.04 LTS on a server system: follow the same instructions as for Ubuntu 9.10, but set Prompt=lts instead of Prompt=normal.

Ubuntu 10.04 Beta 1 includes the 2.6.32-16.25 kernel based on 2.6.32.9.

KDE SC 4.4

HAL removal
This beta sports full removal of HAL from the boot process, making Ubuntu faster to boot and faster to resume from suspend.

Major new version of likewise-open
The likewise-open package, which provides Active Directory authentication and server support for Linux, has been updated to version 5.4. The package supports upgrades from both the officially supported versions 4.0 (Ubuntu 8.04 LTS) and 4.1 (Ubuntu 9.10), as well as the likewise-open5 packages from universe.

Since this upgrade involves a lot of configuration file changes and in-place database upgrades, testing and feedback is appreciated.

New default open source driver for nVidia hardware
The Nouveau video driver is now the default for nVidia hardware. This driver provides kernel mode setting, which will give improved resolution detection. This driver provides hardware accelerated 2D functionality, like the -nv driver it replaces. The nouveau driver is being actively developed upstream and we anticipate this will enable faster bug fixes for problems encountered.

Improved support for nVidia proprietary graphics drivers
Three different NVIDIA proprietary drivers are currently available: nvidia-current (190.53), nvidia-173, and nvidia-96. Thanks to a new alternatives system, it is now possible to install all three of these packages at the same time (although it is only possible to have one configured for use at a time).

Social from the Start
We now feature built-in integration with Twitter, identi.ca, Facebook, and other social networks with the MeMenu in the panel, which is built upon the Gwibber project, which has a completely new, more reliable backend built on top of desktopcouch. Gwibber now also supports a multi-column view for monitoring multiple feeds simultaneously.

New boot experience
Multiple changes to look, feel and speed of the boot experience have been included in the Ubuntu 10.04 LTS beta.

New Indicators
The notification area now features more consistent user experience and design for communication, session management, and many other tasks.

New Themes
The desktop has been beautified with the addition of two brand new themes, Ambiance and Radiance. New wallpaper and icons are also included.

Ubuntu One File Syncing
Select any folder in your home directory for sync, pick from your existing contacts when sharing folders. An updated preferences application has been added, with more features.

Ubuntu One Music Store
Millions of songs are available for purchase from your Ubuntu desktop, integrated with the Rhythmbox Music Player and using Ubuntu One cloud storage for backup and easy sync. Watch http://one.ubuntu.com/blog for the public beta launch.
New features for Ubuntu Enterprise Cloud (UEC)
The Ubuntu Enterprise Cloud installer has been vastly improved in order to support alternative installation topologies. UEC components are now automatically discovered and registered, including for complex topologies. Finally, UEC is now powered by Eucalyptus 1.6.2 codebase.
Security Issue when upgrading from Lucid Alpha 2
If you installed Lucid prior to Alpha 3, you may have libmysqlclient16 7.0.9-1 installed. This package was present in the Ubuntu archive by mistake and was retracted, but because it has a later version number than the real libmysqlclient16 package, the real package will not be installed automatically on upgrade. To ensure that you have the official package installed on your Lucid system and will receive security support for it throughout Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, it is important that you run sudo apt-get install libmysqlclient16/lucid and follow the instructions.
Known issues
As is to be expected at this stage of the release process, there are several known bugs that users are likely to run into with Ubuntu 10.04 Beta 1. We have documented them here for your convenience along with any known workarounds, so that you don't need to spend time reporting these bugs again:
■Because of the new alternatives system used for nvidia driver packages, the nvidia installer from NVIDIA's website currently doesn't work. ■The fglrx binary driver for ATI video chipsets does not yet support the X server in Lucid. As a workaround, users should use the open source -ati driver instead. (494699)
■A number of outstanding bugs prevent users of the OpenLDAP server (the slapd package) from upgrading successfully from Ubuntu 8.04 LTS to 10.04 LTS Beta 1. Users running OpenLDAP servers are advised to wait until Beta 2 before upgrading. (538516, 536958)
■Configuration of "LVM with encryption" in the Ubuntu Server installer and the alternate installer fails when setting up swap. Investigation of this issue is ongoing. (539324)
■Ubuntu Enterprise Cloud 9.10 upgrades to 10.04 do not yet work seamlessly, and UEC 9.10 administrators are advised not to upgrade to 10.04 Beta 1. This problem is a high priority (519513), and is expected to be resolved for 10.04 Beta 2. This does not affect new installations of UEC 10.04, which are expected to work quite well at 10.04 Beta 1.
■Xubuntu Desktop is installed by default without language support (540878). To localize your system, after installation, go to Applications -> System -> Language Support and add your language.
■When running Kubuntu in Install Only mode ("Install Kubuntu" from the boot menu), the system will fail to reboot correctly at the end of the install. As a workaround, users can "Try Kubuntu without installing" and click on the installer icon on the desktop. (540856)
■Installation with /boot on RAID1 fails due to a bug when installing the bootloader to disk. This bug will be addressed for 10.04 Beta 2. (527401)
■If the cryptsetup package is installed as part of an install from the alternate CD, the X server may crash after boot the first time you press . To correct this problem, install version 0.8.0~-17 or later of the plymouth package from the Ubuntu archives after the initial installation. (540256)
■Wubi as included on the ISO images is unable to enter its second stage of installation, so you will not be able to install inside Windows using just an ISO image in this beta release. As a workaround, users who are installing the Ubuntu Desktop Edition can download the stand-alone version of wubi from http://releases.ubuntu.com/10.04/wubi.exe which includes the fix for this bug. This bug will be fully addressed for 10.04 LTS Beta 2. (541607)
■Selecting OEM installation on Kubuntu in 10.04 LTS Beta 1 does not install the oem-config-kde package required to complete OEM configuration after reboot. Users in need of Kubuntu OEM installation support are advised to wait until 10.04 LTS Beta 2. (540895)

Trying to install some invoicing programm made for debian, I had the fault of mixing some of the debian packets with ubuntu packets,

nothing happened after installing the software called Linex Empresa, but the appearing of the icons in the Applications menu did not seem to work at all,

Then I decided to uninstall those packets but without success, instead, I blocked somehow my system so it could not get anymore updated, nor the possibility of installing anymore software,

Well, this is linux, and there is always a solution for this kind of software,

what did I do? exactly make a simple search in Google with the system error output as a search query,

there was it..in Spanish language, just for me, like waiting to be found, every day I expend using linux, I learn something...

Well, I had some clues..then... but I could not still fix the problem,

Idea!! opened a terminal window, imput the commands to run as a superuser "root" in Ubuntu Server Karmic Koala this is "sudo bash"

and then I decided to use mc (midnight commander) some program similar (very) to the old Norton Utilities for MSDOS, nearly 20 years ago...

mc was fascinating oppening the .deb packets and not only that, I was able to read all the confing files of the distribution, then I did it manually, reinstalled the programm that the system could not reinstall and finished the process by running some weird command

#sudo apt-get install -f

voila! my system was ok again...

sometimes things are not so difficult as they appear..

The help about this I found in ubuntu forums has been there since 2007...

Thanks Ubuntu users for sharing so much knowledge...

At the end, I start just believing that Code is Poetry...

Thanks to all developers of this magic software that simply "Runs"

Cómo arreglar el sonido en portátiles HP COMPAQ en Ubuntu

Hace unos días que compré un portátil Compaq CQ61 e instale Ubuntu , tras la instalación no le funcionaba el audio, no se escuchaba nada. Buscando en google encontré una solución en http://laventanamuerta.net/como-arreglar-el-sonido-en-portatiles-hp-compaq-en-ubuntu/
Al parecer el problema radica en los drivers ALSA que no están en su última versión, y en la configuración de estos, así que vamos a descargar la última versión y a configurarla debidamente. Seguid estos pasos uno a uno y en orden:
Primero vamos a ver si tenemos instalados los programas necesarios:

sudo apt-get install patch gettext libncurses5-dev xmlto xmltoman

Creamos las carpetas y descargamos los archivos:

cd ~
mkdir soundtmp
cd soundtmp

wget ftp://ftp.alsa-project.org/pub/driver/alsa-driver-1.0.21.tar.bz2
wget ftp://ftp.alsa-project.org/pub/lib/alsa-lib-1.0.21a.tar.bz2

./configure --with-cards=hda-intel --with-kernel=/usr/src/linux-headers-$(uname -r)
make
sudo make install
cd ..

cd alsa-lib-1.0.21a
./configure
make
sudo make install
cd ..

cd alsa-utils-1.0.21
./configure --disable-nls
make
sudo make install

Si al ejecutar el último ./configure te aparece este error:

checking form.h presence… yes
checking for form.h… yes
checking for new_panel in -lpanelw… no
configure: error: panelw library not found

Entonces tienes que ejecutar estos comandos:

sudo ln -s libpanelw.so.5 /usr/lib/libpanelw.so
sudo ln -s libformw.so.5 /usr/lib/libformw.so
sudo ln -s libmenuw.so.5 /usr/lib/libmenuw.so
sudo ln -s libncursesw.so.5 /lib/libncursesw.so

Por último editamos el archivo de configuración de ALSA (sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf) y añadimos estas líneas al final:

options snd-pcsp index=-2
alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel
alias sound-slot-0 snd-hda-intel
options snd-hda-intel model=hp-m4
options snd-hda-intel enable_msi=1

Vamos a Sistema → Preferencias → Sonido y cambiamos las 4 primeras opciones a ALSA.

At last! we can work...

After 20 years of computing I found myself using Ubuntu Linux, what I believe it is a real revolution in computer operative system, amazingly surprised by the functionality and capabilities of an Open Software given by community that carries on making more useful software.
May be that some computer users they still do not believe that they can understand something different from what they know already, or what they believe they know...

The actual machine I am using to write this entry is nothing more than an old ASUS Laptop with nothing more than 250 Megabytes of ram, a mobile AMD Athlon(tm) 4 processor, not really very advanced for this days, in fact, I do believe that this laptop, is just an old machine, (The processor's datasheet says a lot more, exactly from the manufacturer we can read something like:
"This processor features a seventh-generation microarchitecture
with an integrated L2 cache that supports the growing
processor and system bandwidth requirements of emerging
software, graphics, I/O, and memory technologies. The
high-speed execution core of the processor includes multiple
x86 instruction decoders, a dual-ported 128-Kbyte split
level-one (L1) cache, a 256-Kbyte L2 integrated cache, three
independent integer pipelines, three address calculation
pipelines, and a fully pipelined, out-of-order, floating-point
engine."
Marvellous!, but Windows XP Professional only worked on it for a few moments for just one day...
I did the right thing when I downloaded, from my brother's machine the Ubuntu Server edition "Intrepid", inserted the disk in this machine's DVD R Drive...and...it took me only a while to load what it seemed to be a little dream, and up to date, I believe is the most wonderful thing that some great people had done in the past years of computing science development, - I wish I could see each one of them one day and say at least, Thank You! - but well, hopefully they might find this blog , think about what I am saying, and perhaps feel proud..

For some reason, I do not know why many people still think that linux is just a complex thing not for them, and only for computer experts...that, to a degree, might be correct , but not the exact phrase to formulate about a Linux OS (Operative System) in these days, in fact, my believe is that linux is pretty much a logical tool, rather than Win... In the way the things are handed, devices and drives become easier to use with this revolutionary software, program installation is just like a game, where one only has to select it from a box, that can be easily opened from the desktop bar, and do a simple click on "install packets" after selecting the software we like...

Far for me are those days when I used to search for a program in the Internet to find out how much I had to expend before thinking about to use it for work...

Spreadsheets, CAD software, Word processors, Image processing or website creation tools and email client programs used to fail for me year after year...and I studied computers just from the moment they were created, imagine how bad might have been for all those users whom didn't know what I knew...
I can not think about how would they managed to fight against viruses, spy ware in downloaded stuff and hidden scripts stored in some "cracky" code all along the INTERNET servers...( scaring...),
and there are plenty people whom still think that cookies are bad....
so ...what do I think about all these nasty things that are happening day after day because some manufactures just signed contracts with expert programmers whom just want money for their "high way of life", money that is coming from the pockets of little poor people whom want the best for their kids and do just what they think is the right thing, to get the best stuff for their kids computer..., ok... should I believe it now?...
No thanks...

It is time consumption to try to "work" with a Windows X(what?) P?, alright..., and become successful.
This is not only supported by my personal experience, but for the experience of the human being itself, it is not me the one who made Linux OPERATIVE...I just study it...and use it...

As an example, I went one day to renew my National Security Card after returning to this country, and guess what? I couldn't, because the computer in that office was not working....I asked to that lady what OS was it using, at it was that one of the green field and blue sky, very nice...obviously, they had their technicians...yeah...so, why was it broken? like she said...perhaps because the viruses...
Some other public organizations ask for some new stuff to some IT consultants and expend a lot of money in to make their "own" Linux by giving to this stuff the name of a river and then Linux...Great! but at the end they all end up using Windows in the office because the boss decide..and the boss, by the way, is another politician...well well well!! ohhh! well!!!!
This is taking a bit longer than what I thought....then, the important thing is not the stuff and how it works, not really, the causes are just created interest that many people has in this matter... sad...but I am Sorry, I do not forgive, I have to carry on,

Linux, is the best stuff I had ever used, and now, I do not have a problem, or might be, pehaps to get a new laptop with a bit more of ram and be able to enjoy the plenty capabilities of this magical thing that has been called UBUNTU, thanks for the make! it is Great!
